GB News members can watch the full extended interview with Reform UK's Nigel Farage

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has hit out at Boris Johnson, claiming the former Prime Minister was the "reason" for the Conservative Party's worst-ever election defeat.

In an exclusive interview with GB News, Farage, who is the new MP for Clacton, was asked which politician he thinks can speak to Reform UK voters "like the others can't".

The Reform UK leader replied: "Well, the media think it's Boris Johnson, but I mean, you're having a laugh, aren't you?

"I mean, he's the reason they're in this much trouble. He's the one who betrayed the reason that so many Red Wallers voted Conservative for the first time in their lives in 2019. You know, he is Boris Johnson of mass immigration. He is Boris Johnson of insane application of net zero rules.

"He is Boris Johnson of, 'Do as I say, not as I do'. So the idea that Boris leads them back to victory, frankly, I think that's completely for the birds."

Branding the first-past-the-post system "absolutely brutal", he added: "We could have got over four million votes and no seats under this system. If we had PR [proportional representation], we'd be nearly 100 seats."
