Nigel Farage says he is expecting “the biggest month ever” for Channel migrant crossings in a gloomy prediction.
In a damning assessment of Rishi Sunak’s pledge to stop the boats, the former Brexit Party leader accused the Prime Minister of “changing his tune” on the matter.
It comes as Britain experiences searing temperatures, with highs of 33C anticipated in the coming days.
Farage says he expects the British Channel to be “flat” as a result, creating optimal conditions for migrants to make the perilous trip from France.

Crossings have been taking place in recent days, with over 21,000 arriving on UK shores so far this year, according to the latest figures.
“In the last couple of days, there’s been a puffy north easterly blowing”, Farage said on GB News.
“For the next few days, the forecast is the Channel being flat calm.
“This will be big. I would predict September will be the biggest month ever in terms of illegal migration across the Channel.
“Rishi Sunak has changed his tune on this, saying how difficult this is. We have a gutless, weak Government.
“We have a country getting angrier, Labour won’t be any better, the last four Conservative PMs have all promised to tackle this, and now we hardly deport anybody.
This was the highest monthly average since records began in 2018, according to PA news agency analysis of provisional Government data.
A Home Office spokesperson said: “The unacceptable number of people risking their lives by making these dangerous crossings is placing an unprecedented strain on our asylum system.
“Our priority is to stop the boats, and our Small Boats Operational Command is working alongside our French partners and other agencies to disrupt the people smugglers.
“The government is going even further through our Illegal Migration Act which will mean that people arriving in the UK illegally are detained and promptly removed to their country of origin or a safe third country.”
