Everything “good” in the world started in Britain, Tory Party deputy chairman Lee Anderson has claimed.
Anderson, who was elected to the House of Commons as the MP for Ashfield in 2019, also said while he is proud to be British he is “even prouder to be an Englishman”.
Speaking during his first show on GB News last night, the 56-year-old said: “Look, we are a great country.
“We are a gift to the world. We are now an independent, trading, sovereign nation, a gift to the world.
The Ashfield MP was also joined by several guests, including Bassetlaw MP Brendan Clarke-Smith
GB News“I keep saying this to anybody that will listen.
“Look at the things we’ve done in the past.
“We’ve given railways, we’ve given technology, the Industrial Revolution, arts, culture, Dickens, Shakespeare, sports.
“Look at, you know, football, tennis, rugby, golf – everything that’s good in this world started on this great island of ours.
“For centuries, we have punched well above our weight on the world stage.
“I’m so proud to be a British person, even prouder to be an Englishman, and so I should.”
During his inaugural show, which was aired on the seventh anniversary of the Brexit vote, Anderson described the vote to leave the European Union as a “great decision” and revealed he would make the same choice again.
Anderson joins a growing list of star-studded Tory MPs regularly appearing on GB News, including ex-Brexit Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg.
Former Work & Pensions Secretary Esther McVey and Shipley MP Phillip Davies also host a show together.
Anderson spoke to several guests during his first GB News show, including ex-Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage and Bassetlaw MP Brendan Clarke-Smith.
He also interviewed former Labour MP Simon Danczuk, actress Vicki Michelle and London cabbie Gary Fisher.
Lee Anderson’s Real World airs on GB News every Friday at 7pm.
