Lee was not impressed with the trade unionist’s opinion piece

Watch the moment Reform UK MP Lee Anderson lays into GB News guest Andy Twelves just moments into his show.

Lee was not impressed with the trade unionist’s opinion piece in the Daily Express claiming the GB News star has ‘betrayed’ Reform’s base.

Opening up his show, he wasted no time in grilling his guest.

“I have a big bone to pick with you. You recently did an op-ed saying I have betrayed the very people who put me into Parliament”, he said.

“Is that correct?”, he asked, to which Twelves responded: “Yes, it is.”

Lee hit back to say “come on then, explain yourself. You’ve got a minute”, as the show opened up on a sour note.

The trade unionist said: “I think the Reform UK caucus voting against the Employment Rights Bill is a betrayal of the working class.

“This will strengthen the working class rights at work. Banning zero-hour contracts, strengthening menopause rights, banning fire and rehire, strengthening maternity and paternity leave.

“All of these things increase working class rights at work and make their lives better.”

Lee pointed out his strong polling performance in his constituency, probing Twelves further by asking: “Are you saying my voters are stupid?”

“The Ashfield independents are a mess and Labour hasn’t put forward someone strong enough to compete”, said Twelves.

Lee argued: “I just think the Labour Party is no good and the people of Ashfield back me.”

The Bill is currently being considered by the House of Lords after a series of amendments.

It was initially published on 10 October 2024 and the majority of its reforms are anticipated to take effect from 2026, with consultations expected to begin in 2025.

Speaking out on the bill last month, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner said: For too long millions of workers have been forced to face insecure, low paid and irregular work, while our economy is blighted by low growth and low productivity.

“We are turning the tide – with the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation, boosting living standards and bringing with it an upgrade to our growth prospects and the reforms our economy so desperately needs.

“We have been working closely with businesses and workers to progress this landmark bill and deliver our Plan for Change - unleashing growth and making work pay for everyone.”
