Sir George Howarth said Keir Starmer has 'drawn a line under' the 'shameful' politics of Jeremy Corbyn
Labour MP George Howarth has has revealed the extent of the chaos under Jeremy Corbyn in the Labour Party, describing his leadership as "disastrous".
He said it was a "dark time for the party", adding: "The problems we had with antisemitism was shameful".
But he said Sir Keir Starmer has "drawn a line under all of that", describing him as "steady, reliable and principled".
Speaking to GB News of the Labour Party Conference The MP for Knowsley said: "He's made us look like a credible alternative government.
"He's made the party fit to be in government and he's a different person to the Prime Minister.
"He's a different person to previous leaders of the Labour Party.
"But I think he's done a good job and he's a steadying influence not just in the Labour Party, but it's becoming increasingly apparent it's a steadying influence on the country and people are looking for that.
"A bit of steadiness, a bit of reliability."
He added: "I think he's not flashy but he's steady, reliable, principled.
"What more can you ask for?"
Corbyn was expelled from the parliamentary party over his response to EHRC's damning report on antisemitism in 2020 and now sits as an independent MP.
In February, Starmer confirmed that Corbyn will "categorically" not stand as a Labour Party candidate at the next general election, saying he "betrayed" the values of the British people.
He said: "Let me be very clear about that: Jeremy Corbyn will not stand for Labour at the next general election, as a Labour Party candidate.
"What I said about the party changing, I meant, and we are not going back.
