A Dudley Councillor has told GB News how he was expelled from the Labour Party after criticising Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for "turning his back on the working class".
Steve Edwards - who represents Brockmoor and Pensnett - revealed how after being critical of the British premier for "many months" since coming into power, he wrote a letter directly to the PM voicing his concerns.
Within a matter of days, Edwards received a response to say that his membership to the Labour party had been "revoked".
However, Labour said the party "does not comment on membership matters" and made it clear Sir Keir Starmer is "not personally involved".

Discussing the ordeal on GB News, Edwards explained: "I've been critical of Keir Starmer for many months now, obviously with the winter fuel allowance and stuff being taken away from pensioners who have got next to nothing.
"So obviously I voiced my displeasure with that, and I had a little bit of a telling off from the regional party saying I shouldn't be trying to embarrass the Government. I said, look, it's the Government that are embarrassing me, not me embarrassing the Government."
Expanding on the key reason why he wrote directly to the Prime Minister, Edwards highlighted that the Goverment's U-turn on not hiking council tax sparked particular fury with him.
He stated: "Obviously we're dealing with our own local budget in Dudley, and we've been scrutinising that. But one of the things they're doing within Dudley is they're putting up council tax. Now, Keir Starmer made a promise last year that council tax would definitely not be going up.

Edwards had criticised Keir Starmer for raising council tax in Dudley and other areas
PA"So I voiced my opinion in a letter which I wrote to Keir Starmer and sent to Keir Starmer on Monday, and also emailed it to Keir Starmer, saying you promised you were going to help and you aren't helping us. And four days later I had a letter saying my membership had been revoked."
Remaining sceptical of Labour's claim that the Prime Minister was "not personally involved", Edwards claimed that the reason he was expelled is because he was "speaking up for the working class".
He told the People's Channel: "You'd think the Prime Minister's got nothing to do with little issues like this, but it goes up the chain within the party - it goes to a regional level, then national level, and then they're going to pass it off at high office.
"Whether it's him or whether it's somebody else, they're saying get rid because this bloke's speaking up for the working class too much, we don't want people supporting the working class so just get rid of him and shut him up. And obviously, he's had the opposite effect because I'm sitting now on the telly."

In a scathing verdict of Starmer, Edwards argued that the Labour leader has "no understanding" of what the "working class" really is.
Edwards fumed: "It's another establishment stooge, it's another multi-millionaire who claims his dad was a toolmaker so that makes him working class, when really they've got no understanding of what the working class is.
"Unfortunately within all of the parties at the minute, we're led by rich people. Where are the people with the normal accents? Where are the people who've worked in the factories?
"We've got to have a voice around the table, but they just want to get rid of any voice."
