Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and US President Joe Biden have delivered heartfelt messages to King Charles III, following his cancer diagnosis.

Albanese said the "thoughts of all Australians are with King Charles and his family", adding that he wishes him a "speedy recovery".


While Biden said that "navigating a cancer diagnosis" takes "hope and absolute courage".

King Charles III, 75, received the diagnosis after undergoing separate treatment for a benign prostate enlargement.

Anthony Albanese and US President Joe Biden have delivered heartfelt messages to King Charles III, following his cancer diagnosis.

In a video message after the diagnosis, Albanese said: "Can I just say that today, the thoughts of all Australians are with king charles and his family.

"We wish him very much a speedy recovery. I will be sneding a message to the palace this morning and we hope that king charles has a speedy recovery and a return to his duties as soon as possible."

In a separate statement, he added: "Australians know that His Majesty King Charles has always reached out to us in our country's toughest moments, showing kindness and care for those doing it tough.

"All of us are thinking of him and his family in this very hard time. We wish him well for a speedy recovery."

Biden also sent his best wishes to the King, saying: "Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship takes hope and absolute courage.

"Jill and I join the people of the United Kingdom in praying that His Majesty experiences a swift and full recovery."

Speaking to reporters in Las Vegas today, he added that he is "concerned about him", continuing: "But I'll be talking to him God willing."

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he was "shocked and sad" to hear of the King's diagnosis, adding that he is in "regular contact" with him and will continue to be "as normal".

He told the BBC he is thankful it was "caught early" and that "everyone will be wishing him a full recovery".

Sunak added: "That's what we're all hoping and praying for". The PM said he is sure that many families will have been "touched by the same thing", adding: "We will be willing him on and hopefully we can get through this as soon as possible".

In a statement, Buckingham Palace expressed the monarch's desire to assist the public's understanding about cancer.

It said: "His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
