Clare Muldoon delivered a scathing assessment of Labour's performance

Political commentator Clare Muldoon has called for Sir Keir Starmer's resignation, describing Labour's leadership as a "complete omnishambles".

Speaking on GB News, Muldoon delivered a scathing assessment of Labour's performance, saying the party has "forgotten what the real world is like for real people to live in".

"All Labour seem to be able to do is snatch money in which ever way they can and not keep their word", she said.

"Globally, it is a catastrophic hole we are in at the moment", Muldoon added.

The economic stagnation coincides with Sir Keir Starmer's early months in power, raising fresh questions about Labour's stewardship of the economy.

The government faces mounting pressure over October's Budget, which critics say has burdened firms with significant cost increases.

Sources close to the Prime Minister say Starmer "badly needs a holiday" as he faces "relentless strain" in the role.

Friends claim he requires "a lot of soothing and a lot of buoying up at the moment" following a troubled start to his premiership.

"He talks a good game about needing to take the unpopular decisions now, but I don't think he realised quite how unpopular they – or he – would be", one friend told MailOnline.

The Prime Minister is reportedly planning his first holiday since the General Election over the New Year.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has defended Labour's economic approach, stating: "The challenge we face to fix our economy and properly fund our public finances after 15 years of neglect is huge".

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) warned the economy was heading for the "worst of all worlds" in 2025 as businesses grapple with what they termed the Chancellor's "tax-bomb" fiscal statement.

Manufacturing output fell at its fastest pace since mid-2020, with the CBI reporting that "domestic business confidence has collapsed in the wake of the Budget".

Recent polling by Ipsos shows 61 per cent of Britons are dissatisfied with Keir Starmer, marking his worst performance as Labour leader.

Overall dissatisfaction with the Government remains high at 70 per cent.

Economic optimism continues to decline, with 65 per cent expecting the economy to worsen over the next year - the worst score since late 2022.

The government faces criticism over several policy decisions, including cuts to winter fuel payments for pensioners, increased inheritance taxes on farmers, and the decision not to compensate WASPI women.
