Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has justified his rejection of a ceasefire in Israel and called for unity over the Hamas war.
Speaking to Chatham House, Starmer outlined the Labour Party position on the war, stating: “I am not calling for a ceasefire now as it would leave Hamas with the capabilities to conduct attacks on Israel as we saw on 7 October.
"Humanitarian pauses would be a practical solution on the ground.”
His speech follows widespread backlash from within the Labour Party, in particular from London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Mayor for Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham.
