Key world leaders are gathered today for the largest European peace summit since 1945

Keir Starmer has been joined by Emmanuel Macron, Ursula von der Leyen and other key European leaders as Nato chief has called for Europe to "give more" ahead of peace talks this afternoon.

The meeting will be the biggest European peace summit since the end of the Second World War.

Nato chief Mark Rutte posted online that he felt "very positive" ahead of the London summit, outlining three key points: "1. Support Ukraine today. All in Europe will need to give more 2. We all want a peace deal, and it has to last. Europe is really stepping up here 3. To keep NATO strong, Europe will increase defence spending".

Speaking at the start of the historic talks, Keir Starmer declared that European leaders must step up at a “once in a generation moment".

The Prime Minister told leaders: “We gather here today because this is a once-in-a-generation moment for the security of Europe and we all need to step up.”

Achieving a good outcome for Ukraine “is vital to the security of every nation here and many others too”, Starmer added.

Earlier today, the PM announced that Britain, France and Ukraine will work towards drafting a ceasefire plan to present to America - just two days after the fiery clash between President Zelensky and Donald Trump in the White House.

Starmer has been joined by French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Italian PM Giorgia Meloni in central London for crunch talks this afternoon.

Upon arrival, Zelensky was welcomed by cheers as he was greeted by Keir Starmer. The two spoke for a few moments before they both headed inside the building.

Starmer later mentioned that the applause was "totally spontaneous" and, addressing Zelensky who was sitting beside him, the PM said: "I hope you know that we are all with you and the people of Ukraine for as long as it takes, everyone around this table.”

Their meeting followed Ukraine securing almost $3billion military support yesterday when Zelensky met with Keir Starmer and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.

After a disastrous meeting with Donald Trump on Friday, the war-time President flew to London Stansted to meet with the Labour leader at No10 on Saturday.

International leaders have spoken out in favour of Zelensky and Ukraine since the public fallout between him and the US President.

During Friday's press conference, Donald Trump and his Vice President demanded that Zelensky thank them more often, criticised his attire and accused the Ukrainian leader of "gambling with World War Three".
