The Prime Minister told the Scottish Labour conference that Reform UK is 'not the answer for working people in Britain'

Leader of Reform UK in the London Assembly has claimed that Labour has "every right" to be "rattled" by the party, following Sir Keir Starmer's latest attack on Reform and leader Nigel Farage.

Speaking to GB News, Alex Wilson AM said his party is "surging" in popularity, citing latest polling which places Farage's movement ahead of the Conservatives.

Taking aim at Reform UK, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer told the Scottish Labour Conference in Glasgow that Farage's party are "not the answer for Britain", branding right-wing politics as "dangerous".

Starmer stated: "The alternative they offer is alien to working people. They claim to be the party of patriotism, but they're fawning over Putin.

"They're not the answer for working people in Britain, and they are not the answer for Scotland."

Defending Reform UK, Wilson hit back at Starmer's remarks: "Labour are rattled, and they have every reason to be.

"You can see in the polling numbers we are now averaging over 25 per cent in the polls. Four separate polling companies have put us in first place ahead of the Conservatives, ahead of Labour, and our membership has been surging off the scale."

Recalling their milestone surge on Boxing Day, Wilson claimed that Farage's party is now "less than 100,000 members" behind Labour, and are continuing to gain seats in several by-elections.

Wilson told GB News: "On Boxing Day we were watching the ticker just to see if we'd overtake the Conservative membership - we left that far behind.

"Now we're now less than 100,000 behind Labour and on the Country Directory we'll soon be the biggest party, mass membership organisation in this country.

"So yes, Labour are rattled and they have every reason to be. We're starting to make progress in council by-elections as well. And of the 11 seats that we've gained in those by elections, seven have been from Labour."

Delivering his verdict on Labour's approach to tackling illegal migration, Wilson claimed that the party's latest tactic in promoting their deportations with social media videos highlights how their efforts are merely a "drop in the ocean".

Wilson concluded: "They have deported 19,000 illegal migrants, but the fact that they're able to trumpet this as being a great success, all that's showing is how bad the Conservatives were at doing the job before them.

"Ultimately, we still have thousands and thousands coming across the Channel on those boats, and this is a drop in the ocean because neither main party is prepared to actually grasp the nettle and realise that in order to deal with this problem, you need to make it possible to say that nobody who arrives here illegally will be allowed to stay."

He added: "Now, we can't do that while we're bound by various international treaties and obligations.

"We're the only party that's got the balls to say we need to make those decisions, and the British Government needs to be able to make decisions in the interest of British people first."
