Recent surveys show Harris polling the same as Biden against Trump - or slightly better
After intense pressure from within the Democratic Party, Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday.
Harris said she would seek the nomination and take on Donald Trump within hours of Biden's exit stating: "Together, we will fight. And together, we will win."
But, how likely is it that Kamala Harris can win the election campaign with only 105 days to go? We take a look at the polls to find out how Harris is performing.
According to multiple surveys taken before Biden withdrew from the 2024 contest, Harris was polling the same as Biden -or slightly better- against Donald Trump. Biden was also running behind Trump in many national and battleground state polls.

Harris polled better than other Democrats commonly floated as a replacement candidate for Biden.
A CBS News/ YouGov poll conducted last week gave Harris a slight edge on Biden: Trump led Harris by three points (51 per cent-48 per cent) while leading Biden by five (52 per cent -47 per cent) among likely voters.
However, in contrast, an Economist/YouGov poll found Biden would lose to Trump 41 per cent to 43 per cent while Harris would perform worse losing to Trump 39 per cent to 44 per cent.
NBC News' latest national poll, conducted after Biden's disastrous debate performance but before the assassination attempt on Trump, put both the president and Harris trailing Trump by 2-point margins.
It found Trump led Biden 45 per cent to 43 per cent while he took 47 per cent to Harris' 45 per cent in their matchup.
In a similar post-debate poll by Fox News, it found Trump ahead by 1 point margin against both Biden (Trump 49 per cent, Biden 48 per cent) and Harris (49 per cent, Harris 48 per cent.)
NBC's polling also found some important differences between demographic groups.
Harris slightly outperformed Biden among Black voters, leading Trump among this demographic group by 64 points (78 per cent to 14 per cent).
This compares with Biden's 57-point lead among Black voters against Trump (69 per cent - 12 per cent).
