Jeremy Hunt's children left “sweet and thoughtful” letters for Sir Keir Starmer's offspring before the Prime Minister's family moved into the flat above 11 Downing Street.
Starmer is expected to move into the spacious flat above the offices of Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor with his wife Victoria and two teenage children, in the next few days.
The Starmers have copied Boris Johnson, Theresa May and David Cameron by moving into the much larger residential flat above 11 Downing St rather than the smaller one where Rishi Sunak's family lived above 10 Downing Street.
Starmer told journalists including GB News' political editor Christopher Hope at the Nato summit in Washington about the note left by the Hunt children to the Prime Minister's two teenage children.
Jeremy and Lucia Hunt lived at 11 Downing St with their three children. Starmer has never publicly disclosed the names of his two teenage children.
“In terms of notes what I will tell you is this, it was very nice. Jeremy Hunt's children left notes for our children coming into the No11 flat.
“We have not moved in yet because we didn't want to leave the kids there while we were away, but I think that was really sweet and thoughtful of them to do that because for children this is very impactful.
“They have been through it. They are slightly different ages but for them to be thoughtful enough to leave a note is very special. ... our children were very pleased to get those notes.”

However, it is understood that they contained advice from the Hunt children on living at 11 Downing Street, a building which also houses dozens of civil servants' offices.
Starmer also said that his wife Victoria, who was rarely seen on the election trail, was looking forward to moving into 11 Downing Street which the family are expected to move into this weekend.
He said: “It’s a big transition for Vic and even more for the kids. But Vic’s very pleased to be doing it. It’s great to have her here by my side while we go to this summit.
“And we will take a bit more time with the kids… we haven’t moved in yet because I didn’t want them left on their own while the two of us were away this week, so we’ll just take a bit more time on that.”
