Jeremy Corbyn will be blocked fro standing as a Labour candidate at the next general election under plans being drawn up by Sir Keir Starmer.
Later this month the Leader of the Opposition is set to bring forward a motion to Labour's ruling National Executive Committee which will explicitly block his predecessor from standing under the party banner.
Starmer ruled out the left-wing veteran standing again for Labour last month, as he insisted the party has undergone a transformation under his leadership.
The motion will formally make it clear that the NEC will not endorse the Islington North MP at the next election.

The motion, which the NEC is expected to back at a meeting on Tuesday, says Corbyn "will not be endorsed by the NEC as a candidate on behalf of the Labour Party at the next general election".
A senior Labour source said: "Keir Starmer has made clear that Jeremy Corbyn won’t be a Labour candidate at the next general election.
"The Labour Party now is unrecognisable from the one that lost in 2019.
"Tuesday’s vote will confirm this and ensure we can focus on our five missions to build a better Britain."
While still a Labour member, Corbyn has been banned from the parliamentary party since 2020.
Starmer removed the whip following his predecessor's response to the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s report into antisemitism within the party.
The equalities watchdog found that there had been "serious failings in the Labour party leadership in addressing antisemitism and an inadequate process for handling antisemitism complaints" while Corbyn was in charge.
The Islington North MP responded by saying that "antisemitism in the party was 'overstated'."
Criticising Starmer's actions, Corbyn today accused the party leader of having “denigrated the democratic foundations” of Labour.

PAHe said: “Today, Keir Starmer has broken his commitment to respect the rights of Labour members and denigrated the democratic foundations of our party.
“I have been elected as the Labour MP for Islington North on 10 consecutive occasions since 1983.
“I am proud to represent a community that supports vulnerable people, joins workers on the picket line and fights for transformative change.
“This latest move represents a leadership increasingly unwilling to offer solutions that meet the scale of the crises facing us all.
“As the Government plunges millions into poverty and demonises refugees, Keir Starmer has focused his opposition on those demanding a more progressive and humane alternative.”
