Parliament has been forced to suspend its heartfelt tribute to World War 2 hero John 'Paddy' Hemmingway after shouting protesters disrupted proceedings by lobbing confetti over members of the House of Lords.
The small group of demonstrators caused the upper chamber to pause its business as they called for the abolition of the unelected House of Lords.
Security staff responded to the incident, which briefly interrupted an important address being delivered to peers.
The protesters made their views clear with both their chants and the leaflets left scattered across the chamber.

The leaflets thrown by the protesters bore the message: "Never mind the Lords here's the House of People."

In her speech, she said: "Very sadly, this will be one of the last significant anniversaries where we have veterans who fought for our freedom sill alive."
The Baroness said she was "sorry" as she was forced to half proceedings.
After a brief pause, the House was able to resume its business once order had been restored.
