The ex-Home Secretary issued a letter after Rishi Sunak’s decision to relegate her to the back benches

Suella Braverman has “thrown a hand grenade into the middle of the Cabinet Office” with her scathing remarks about the Prime Minister, according to Henry Bolton OBE.

The ex-Home Secretary issued a letter after Rishi Sunak’s decision to relegate her to the back benches.

In a series of attacks, Braverman branded the Prime Minister “weak” while suggesting he has “manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver” on key pledges.

Speaking on GB News, Bolton told Martin Daubney the former Home Secretary has “thrown a hand grenade” into Cabinet in yet another blow for the Prime Minister.

“I couldn’t quite believe what I was reading”, he said.

“This is incredibly damning stuff, there’s a lot in this letter about how she has advised the Prime Minister and his team not to just assume this Rwanda plan will go through the court.

“She is saying she has had absolutely no response to that. This is damning stuff.

“The reality is, she is right. What this tells me is Rishi Sunak, despite anything Suella Braverman has been saying, the PM clearly made a strategic position to position the Conservatives in the centre.

“This is clearly what he has enacted in this reshuffle. This is explosive stuff.

“If this doesn’t lead to a civil war and a change in the Conservative Party, nothing will.”

Sources suggest the death knell on her term as Home Secretary was an unauthorised article for The Times in which she hit out at police “double standards” because of the way pro-Palestinian “mobs” have been handled.

In the speech, she hit out at Sunak’s “weak” response to the marches, saying it “lacks in the qualities of leadership that this country needs”.

Sunak became Tory leader in the aftermath of Liz Truss’s disastrous and short-lived tenure without facing a vote of party members.

Braverman suggested she had secured a deal with him beforehand to ensure her support.

The former Home Secretary went on to state Sunak had reneged on the agreement.

A No 10 spokeswoman said: “The Prime Minister believes in actions not words.

“He is proud that this government has brought forward the toughest legislation to tackle illegal migration this country has seen and has subsequently reduced the number of boat crossings by a third this year. And whatever the outcome of the Supreme Court tomorrow, he will continue that work.

“The PM thanks the former home secretary for her service.”
