Nigel Farage has revealed that establishment forces were partly behind his decision not to stand at the upcoming General Election.
Speaking on GB News, the Reform honorary president compared his previous travails to that of Donald Trump, who was convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his historic criminal trial.
Farage said that the "establishment will do anything" to stop him gaining power, a situation he feels Donald Trump is also currently faced with in America.
Farage said not having sufficient time to launch a campaign would have given establishment forces the initiative had he opted to stand.
"In six weeks, starting from scratch when you're me, when you know they will cheat against me like they did last time, and I'm not making that up because one of the agents got a nine month suspended prison sentence for breaking the law in the Conservative campaign against me", he said.
"In those circumstances, I thought I could do much better for the party and the cause by touring the country.
"I will be in Ashfield tomorrow with Lee [Anderson], I'm going to be in Boston and Skegness today with Richard Tice. I couldn't have done those things and fought for a seat from scratch against an establishment, while quite not the same as Trump, who will do anything to stop me."
