Lizzie Cundy has launched a scathing attack on Labour ministers, branding them "hypocrites" over their travel expenses despite climate pledges.

Ed Miliband's Energy and Net Zero department has come under fire after spending £43,644 on UK domestic flights during Labour's first six months in power.

Speaking to GB News, Lizzie Cundy said: "The hypocrites. They're all hypocrites. I don't know where to start.

"I mean, I’ll be here all day. Let's start with David Lammy, shall we? He spent money on private jets.

"This is the man who said he was going to crack down on these expensive ministerial flights. But no, he actually spent £1.2 million. And what’s that doing to our environment?

"I am shocked. One thing after another. When their lips move, they lie.

"I mean, they said they were going to be the government that would get rid of cronyism.

CEO of Youth Sports UK Alex Cairns SAID: "they’re not lying. What they're doing is trying to bring things down to net zero.

"They need to attend these important meetings COP 28 in Brazil."

Cundy pointed out: "Where they've mowed through the Brazilian rainforest to create a four-lane motorway so people can get to the conference."

She added: "This is absolute nonsense."

Nana Akua later added: "He's been globetrotting."

A spokesman for the energy department defended the use of domestic flights by ministers and officials.

"Ministers and civil servants are required to travel for government business, and while most journeys are by train, flights are sometimes necessary to ensure ministerial and officials' time is used as efficiently as possible," the spokesman said.

Shadow Energy Secretary Andrew Bowie has condemned Miliband's department's spending as "astounding hypocrisy".

"In opposition, Miliband was all too happy to lecture the rest of us — but now in government, it's one rule for him and another for everyone else," Bowie said.

He further accused the Energy Secretary of forcing the country to "suffer under his sanctimonious eco agenda".
