Veteran weatherman John Kettley has launched a scathing attack on Energy Secretary Ed Miliband over reports of a £50million investment in experiments aimed at dimming the sun.
Speaking on GB News, Kettley branded the decision "disgusting" and "absolutely ridiculous".
The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (Aria) - a Government agency backed by £56.8million - aims to carry out "small, controlled, geographically confined outdoor experiments on approaches that may one day scale to help reduce global temperatures".
Some of their controversial technology aims to reflect sunlight back into space, potentially providing a temporary brake on rising global temperatures while emissions reduction efforts continue.

Discussing the investment on GB News, Kettley expressed strong opposition to the concept of weather manipulation.
"I really do not think you should be playing God with the weather. It's absolutely ridiculous," he said during the broadcast.
He urged that natural weather patterns should be allowed to continue uninterrupted.
"Let it do what it is doing naturally and normally and has done for decades," Kettley insisted.

PAKettley elaborated on his position regarding weather patterns, stating: "At the moment, we're having a very dry spring. That's got nothing to do with climate change and the rain will return and the colder weather will return as well."
He emphasised that seasonal variations are normal and to be expected: "We'll have seasons ahead of us, not only this year, but in years to come," he explained.
The weatherman noted that timing of seasons may fluctuate "by a week or two" naturally.
"We had that 40-degree [heatwave] for example just a few years ago. That's been nowhere near challenged in the past two years, and it may not be challenged this year," Kettley explained.

Regarding Miliband's reported £50million research commitment, Kettley was unequivocal: "I think that's disgusting, quite honestly," he declared.
He suggested this reflected broader concerns about Government decisions.
"It's not the only disgusting thing that this Government's doing, is it?" he added.
Kettley indicated his willingness to take action against such initiatives: "I'm not going into politics. I'm too late for that.
"I just cannot stand some of the things that are going on in the last six, eight, nine months, or whatever it is."
The weatherman stated he would support formal opposition to such projects: "I would sign any petition, I can tell you," he declared.
