GB News Political Editor Christopher Hope will chair a two hour special programme with the candidates next Thursday

GB News can share fresh details about next week's live televised Conservative Party leadership event being hosted by The People's Channel.

Decision Time: The Race to Lead will air on The People's Channel from 7pm on Thursday October 17 and be chaired by GB News' Political Editor Christopher Hope.

With the Tory Party having whittled down candidates to be the next Leader of the Opposition to just two, Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick will be quizzed by Conservative Party members in a two-hour special live programme.

Badenoch and Jenrick will toss a coin to determine who goes first with the candidates then given 45 minutes in the spotlight to make their case for the future of the Conservative Party.

The MPs will have the opportunity to make a five-minute opening pitch before answering 40 minutes of questions from a live audience of Conservative Party members.

A special edition of Patrick Christys Tonight will then air at 9pm, with GB News political correspondents, studio guests from across the political spectrum, and representatives from both candidates' campaigns giving their insight and analysis into the debate.

GB News Editorial Director Michael Booker said: “We are speeding towards decision time for Conservative Party members after MPs had their say.

“GB News is the home of great debate and we are delighted the two contenders will be making their case to members live on the channel as well as those watching and listening across Britain.

“It’s sure to be the key moment in the race to be leader.”

Conservative members will have until October 31 to cast their vote on who they believe should replace Rishi Sunak as leader of the party, with the outcome of the contest announced on November 2.

Details on how to join the audience for Decision Time: The Race to Lead will be announced shortly.

The special live event will be broadcast live on television, online and on GB News Radio on DAB+.
