"Bionic MP" Craig Mackinlay spoke to GB News' Christopher Hope about his emotional health battle after suffering with sepsis. GB News members can watch the film in full above.

Craig Mackinlay, Conservative Party MP for South Thanet, revealed he was hours away from death after being struck down with sepsis.

In the GB News documentary The Bionic MP, the 57-year-old explained he had been taken to hospital in September and "placed into an induced coma with multiple organ failures" due to the life-threatening reaction.

His wife, Kati Mackinlay, emotionally opened up about the tumultuous period for her family, fighting back tears as she recalled doctors giving him a five per cent chance of survival.

The MP said: “Everything was starting to shut down.

“My wife was told that they rarely see people with this amount of illness in the hospital and to perhaps prepare for the worst."
