We’re all doomed! There is nobody we can vote for who will turn this mess around, says Roger Gewolb

'What I didn’t quite expect was the enormous support for the Reform Party posted amongst the hundreds and hundreds of comments'
I made the video accompanying this article a couple of days ago and was pleased to see that almost 90,000 people viewed it on X (formerly Twitter) within only a day and a bit.
What I didn’t quite expect, however, was the enormous support for the Reform Party posted amongst the hundreds and hundreds of comments offered, and, even more so, the absolute disgust, anger and loathing for Rishi Sunak and the Tory party.
I knew people were upset, but this was beyond anything I had imagined.
The predisposing attitude was that, even if voting Reform doesn’t lead anywhere, if enough people do so (as opposed to those misguided folk who said they are going to spoil their ballot or not vote at all), it will let the Tories know how the real people of this country feel and teach them a lesson and make them proper conservatives once again and get things back on track in the next five or 10 years.
Many people who posted also made the point that they do not believe Rishi Sunak‘s statement that a vote for anyone other than he is a vote for Sir Keir Starmer

At the same time, many people who posted also made the point that they do not believe Rishi Sunak‘s statement that a vote for anyone other than he is a vote for Sir Keir Starmer.
They think it is just more nonsense being spouted by someone who is appearing more and more to me to be one of the most mistrusted, disliked, and unpopular politicians we have seen in a very long time indeed.
That by no means makes him unique amongst our current batch of Tory politicians, but, for our third unelected Prime Minister, it is just straining everyone’s patience far too much.
Many people who posted, and quite a few other people to whom I have been speaking, believe that Reform can actually gain a significant number of seats, or at least do some very serious damage.

However, today, I was quite surprised at lunch with a top Tory politician and others when I asked whether, if Nigel Farage came back to lead Reform they could get anywhere near winning and he said “Absolutely“.
However, the very last person I spoke to today was an old-timer, a seasoned expert, and he took pains to remind me of something.
He reminded me that “there is always something that happens right before the end, that nobody ever expected in their wildest imagination, that can change everything”.
Now, he’s going to have me lying awake tonight, more than anything else I’ve heard or read. How about you?
