It will not be Starmer’s Labour party that removes the Conservatives from government, it will be voter apathy.
I have knocked on doors for thousands of hours here in Calder Valley over my almost 30 years treading the boards, from Parish Council to national level politics.
At the end of this month, Calder Valley will have given me the privilege of being the MP that has served this constituency the longest; a constituency that is quintessentially a ‘bell weather’ seat.
There are few finer examples in the UK. You can guarantee that the mood of Calder Valley plays out nationally in a General Election.
Craig Whittaker claims that a Starmer government is 'far more dangerous' for our country than a Corbyn government

The Conservatives do not linger 20 points behind in the polls here. People are cross, angry, or just turned off by the Conservative national parliamentary party for all the reasons we have discussed before.
These great gritty northern, West Yorkshire constituents do not hide behind a keyboard after a pint or two - they tell me what they think face to face.
The interesting thing, though, is that after they have finished their rant and you ask, “who then?” they all invariably say, “Anyone but Starmer” or “I’m just not voting this time.”
I have not had one single voter who voted for us last time say they are switching to Labour. Even the local Labour group is falling out in lumps here.
We traditionally have had the largest Momentum membership here in Calder Valley outside of London, but they cannot stand what Starmer stands for, nor can those traditional Blairites who think he stands for nothing. As an aside, we even have Cherie Blair’s step-mum live here!
Apathy and people turned off from mainstream politics will potentially put Labour in power by default on what will be one of the lowest turnout elections in modern history.
A Starmer Labour government is far more dangerous for our country and economy than even a Corbyn one would have been.
At least with Corbyn, the great British public knew what he stood for. With Starmer, not even he knows what he stands for.
His populist politics will not benefit anyone and the economy will soon spiral out of control with his hands on the reigns.
We already know he is a Europhile for all the public reasons we have discussed before, but the bureaucracy and strangle-hold the EU will have over us if he takes us to closer ties will stifle our economic growth and stall the economy.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Starmer has been slammed by Whittaker for his U-turns

We all think we currently have it tough, but in comparison to what is happening over the channel in Germany and France, we really are performing better.
Starmer’s want for closer ties with the EU will drown us in the deep recessions and bring the problems that Europe are currently experiencing - all this against an international backdrop that is affecting us all.
Starmer’s U-turns are notorious, but you cannot run a country based on ‘he who shouts loudest determines government policy.’ Boris delved into that game and lost every time - and so did the public.
The famous Rashford intervention cost poor families over £40m, all because the cost of free school meals was £40m less than what the government had already pledged to local authorities to help struggling families.
Sheer madness, but it is exactly what happens when a government caves into populist U-turns.
The Starmer school of economics is legendary too. His infamous £28 billion U-turn on green policies amongst many others (nationalisation of utilities; nationalisation of energy companies; nationalisation of royal mail; abolition of tuition fees; tech companies tax raid; windfall tax; ending universal credit, to name a few) shows not only how out of touch with the country he is, but also his inability to understand the basics of what is happening with national and international economies.
It is the state’s responsibility to stimulate growth, not provide the growth. There are too many things that the state should not provide, but instead stimulate that provision.
Just look at the current Hunt budget which we are currently debating in Parliament. Press speculation this week says this is not an election budget - even Starmer has spouted this line.
Starmer could not even consider this is an election budget, within the bounds of the state of the economy. You cannot give away that which you do not have to give.
Whittaker claims that with Corbyn the British public knew 'what he stood for'

The evidence and dangers of a Starmer Labour government is already there for all to see; whether it’s giving more powers to the Police to crack down on the woke protests bringing the country to a halt or curbing the people smugglers who put people on small boats, Labour have voted against every single piece of legislation.
They will not even entertain the Rwanda bill. If they cannot take those challenging decisions, just think what they will do if they get into power.
For example, the UN is asking countries to consider financial reparations for cross-Atlantic slavery in the 1800’s – what would Starmer’s response be?
We know where he stands on cancelling our history with statues being torn down, streets renamed, and even our famous institutions taking down arts that have any connection with slavery.
There is talk of our Royal Family to pay the cost of compensation which is just sheer madness.
Where do we draw the line? I may sue my parents for smacking me in the days when it was the norm, claiming incomprehensible stress and damage to my adolescent development.
If Starmer cannot even stand up for the UK when it comes to illegal immigration and people smugglers by just voting for legislation that would help tackle it, how can we ever trust him when our whole ancient history is under a microscope and challenged based on modern-day practice?
Will Starmer view the sins of our grandfathers and great grandfathers in the prism of those times? He is more likely to buckle under the pressure of populism and re-write our whole history with a massive cheque to boot.
Apathy may well sink the Conservatives at the next General Election, but if you think for one second things will improve, just look at Starmer’s history and be very afraid.
