When I was broadcasting in Australia early this morning, from London, still election day in America, I observed that both candidates‘ sides were saying “We’ve got this“. That’s how close it appeared.
And, whilst almost all the polls showed the same thing as well, the British bookies had Trump odds-on, leagues ahead of Kamala.
This was the position I had been taking for some time, and also that we would be getting the results very early, much earlier than in previous elections.
Even though presenters and pundits were saying it might be a day or two before we got the final results, especially from mail-ins, I was predicting that this time we would perhaps get a result before 8 o’clock in the morning GMT.
And that is pretty much what has happened, because, as I write this, Trump is on 266 electoral votes against Harris’s 205. Trump needs only four more electoral votes to win and he has already just announced that he has won and he and his people have basically started celebrating and my guess is that he will probably end up with 315 electoral votes.
What happened, you may ask, to change the apparent fortunes of Kamala Harris so drastically?
My personal answer is that I don’t think her fortunes changed all that much; she was always destined to end up in this position. This is because everything about her was and is completely inauthentic and her campaign was based almost solely on an emotional plea mainly to younger women about issues such as abortion and elementary school truancy, as well as her being black,, a woman, none of which has anything to do with being President of the United States and leader of the free world.
To boot, she is the least prepared and qualified candidate to be American president in the history of the United States and was so unpopular that nobody endorsed her until they had to remove Biden and reached for the only body around that could fill the void.
Obama and company then tried to turn her into a Hollywood superstar overnight which was risible and I am only amazed that so many Americans went along with it and I can’t wait for all the private jets to take off and leave the country with all the Hollywood celebrities who said that’s what they would do if Trump won-what does anybody care what they think or know about politics?
And that some people, even a great many people, bought into all of this is most unfortunate, but the way of the world, I guess.
More importantly, however, and fortunately, the great majority of people have had enough. They have had enough of the Democratic party’s dishonest ways and have had enough of Kamala.
I believe it is the silent Trump supporters-the ones who didn’t want the aggravation of telling their friends and family that they are voting for Trump-who cast their votes and it was thus always going to happen this way.
