I can’t work out whether Prince Andrew is thick, greedy, immoral – or a revolting combination of all three. Because it would take a Prince with all these character defects to end up consorting with a man now accused of being a Chinese spy and who is a close advisor of China’s president Xi Jinping.
The Duke of York has reached the grand old age of 64 without ever having shown a scintilla of judgement or common sense. This is a man who has been cosseted and indulged his entire privileged life yet appears so desperate for more of it all that he was prepared to blow up what left of his tattered reputation to associate with a man M15 suspect is a spy.

Does Andrew not understand the concept of “keeping your head down.” It’s what he must have been told time and again by King Charles (and his Mother) following the Jeffery Epstein scandal after which he was literally banished from every aspect of royal life. Yet still this grotesque man – child, who goes to bed every night with an army of teddy bears, simply can’t help himself.
It’s not enough that he makes worldwide headlines because of his friendship with the convicted paedophile Epstein and for having been accused of having sex with Virginia Giuffre, claims he has repeatedly denied, one of Epstein’s girls.
You’d think the ruination of his reputation over those allegations, the stripping of his official titles and the cancellation of his royal duties would have been enough shame for any man. You’d think it would have brought him to heel not least because his devastated family – especially his Mother - were mortified at his friendship with Epstein and the accusations that were heaped on him because of it. But No, not even the hurt and embarrassment he caused them was enough to make this pampered fool grow up and take responsibility.
Because here he is again shaming himself, his family and the Monarchy thanks to his association with an alleged Chinese spy.
Yang Tengbo is alleged to have been a spy for the People’s Republic but has strenuously denied it. Clearly M15 clearly believe otherwise. Andrew has since said he “ceased all contact” with Tengbo after taking advice from officials and insisted they had never discussed anything of a “sensitive nature” But what is clear is that businessman Tengbo infiltrated the upper echelons of British society and royal life and its yet to be seen if, and how Prince Andrew helped him and in any way benefitted financially.
But this association with Tengbo is not unlike his years as British Trade Envoy when he was accused of having business dealings with dodgy dictators and despots some of whom were said to have given him tens of thousands of pounds worth of gifts.
What the Hell is wrong with this insufferable idiot Andrew? It’s like the term “Black sheep” was invented especially for him.
Imagine poor King Charles at 76 suffering from cancer, doing his best to properly fulfil a role he waited a lifetime for yet everything he’s done since becoming King - and even before – has been undermined or overshadowed by his younger brother.
For years Charles has wanted to trim the extravagances of the royal family and has reportedly been trying to force Andrew out of Royal Lodge, the 30 bedroom castle that once belonged to the Queen Mum and where Andrew and Fergie have been living for the past 20 years.
Charles believes it’s too big, too extravagant for just two people and wants it put to better use. But apparently Andrew refuses to budge and its only recently he persuaded Charles to let him stay.
So, yet again Prince Andrew finds himself in the middle of an international furore. And yet again his family are furious and ashamed of him.
But just how did Andrew develop such a penchant for causing chaos and embarrassment.
And it’s not an excuse to say that he suffers from the “heir and the spare” syndrome. It’s not an excuse that because he was overindulged by the Queen (he was her favourite son) he was allowed to believe he could do, and get away with anything.
Because in the end everything that’s happened to Prince Andrew is 100% his fault. He’s lived a life of unimaginable luxury. He’s been feted, indulged and fussed over – yet it seems he’s always wanted more. He wanted more power, more of a position but the thing he seemed to want most – looking at his past relationships - was more money.
Now just as he and Sarah Ferguson were inveigling their way back into the royal fold Andrew has cocked it up again.
The family must now be weary of his tawdry antics which heap nothing but shame and humiliation on a royal family that’s trying desperately hard to remain relevant in a country that increasingly questions its value.
And Andrew’s stupefying arrogance and sense of entitlement makes some think we no longer need the royals.
If I was his brother, Charles, I’d want to give him a damn good shake and tell him to grow up.
But I fear growing up is never going to be an option for this over indulged man-child who’s never thought about anything or anyone except himself!
