GB News members were asked to pick who they would vote for in the US election if they could

Americans take to the polls today in one of the closest presidential elections in history.

Polls have been very balanced, with the election too close to call for either side.

Both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have been campaigning hard in the swing states that will decide the next President.

In the US presidential election, each state has a certain amount of electoral votes and the candidate that wins that state, will get all of its votes (apart from in Maine and Nebraska where the votes are shared differently).

In order for a candidate to win, they need to secure at least 270 electoral votes out of the 568 on offer.

Non-US citizens however cannot vote, so unless you're an American citizen, your choice isn't taken into consideration.

A huge 91 per cent of GB News members who voted in the poll would vote for Donald Trump.

On the other hand, seven per cent would have voted for Kamala Harris, while two per cent are unsure.
