It feels like a civil war is about to erupt over the Manchester Airport incident.
The police put out two statements, both of them making reference to officers being violently assaulted by a group of men, a female officer having her nose broken and two others requiring hospital treatment.
And then we got a crowd outside Rochdale police station threatening protests and shouting about Allah.
They were even getting advice on what lawyer to use if they got arrested during said protests.

And then this morning the police change their tune. They suspend the officer who kicked that man in the head.
We went to Greater Manchester Police several times today - they said to us that all four men they arrested have been bailed and no charges have been brought.
The police have totally lost control of this.
And there's more protests tonight.
I don't remember seeing protests like this over the grooming gangs scandal.
As far as I can tell one of two things is happening: Either the police are lying about what led up to that head kick.
Or, they're not being entirely truthful about the assaults on officers and the volatility of the situation...which I personally find doubtful because even Labour's Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said that he's viewed all the footage in its entirety and said it's not 'clear cut'.
Or we are witnessing police giving in to mob rule in real time and throwing an officer under the bus.
Which is it?
