Tired of waiting for the CPS, Nigel Farage has launched a private prosecution against against two men accused of attacking police officers at Manchester Airport.

Nigel Farage confirmed the party is to pursue legal action as the CPS said it is still considering the Manchester Airport case.

What surprises me is that Kemi Badenoch, the new Tory leader, hasn’t made it her priority to be on board with police. Quite odd. I have my doubts how long she will last. A couple of years from today and I imagine Boris will be back in the chair.

Anyway, Farage announced in The Telegraph that Reform had hired the lawyers TM Eye, a leading private prosecutor with 1,000 successful private prosecutions under its belt, to press charges against the two brothers.

He says that they have ‘’secured the funding’’ to take the case to its conclusion.

Farage said; ‘’We are making it clear to the CPS that we will not tolerate them hijacking our prosecution and then dropping it for political reasons. We at Reform will stand up for our police officers even if the CPS and IOPC will not.’’

The delay by the CPS to take a charging decision compares unfavourably with the speed of prosecution – hurried along by the intervention of Starmer - of anybody who wrote a social media post during the summer riots.

Some of the sentences, and I am focussing on two women, were scandalous. If they had pleaded not guilty and had better defence counsel they would never have gone to jail.

With the law it’s not a matter of justice it’s what you pay for. An off the peg barrister is of little use while a KC costing a fortune will get you off. A painful aspect of life.

The major concern is that under the current prime minister we have a two-tier approach to policing and justice.

Increasingly this will be a political issue and Farage will be the benefactor. The Tories should join in or they will be left behind.
