So the Foreign Secretary was in the House of Commons yesterday afternoon announcing the suspension of 30 companies exporting arms or specific products to Israel.

It's just under 10 per cent of the kit that we send.

It was a very interesting atmosphere in the House of Commons, and I began to feel that Israel had, with a few exceptions, pretty much run out of friends.

A lot of Labour MPs were getting up and declaring, 'I am a pro Palestinian'.

Whether some of this is a result of the new voting trend that we saw in the general election, with the growth of sectarian voting, that I think is a contributory factor.

The government is trying to steer a very delicate line on this, but it's a subject that raises great passions.

There's no doubt that since the 7th October and the barbarity that took place on that day, in terms of Israel's response, yes, there are up to 40,000 people that have died.

However, Israel will tell us again and again and again, this is because Hamas effectively uses human shields.

But I feel all over the world that Israel is running out of friends. And I wonder right now, is Israel still really an ally of this country?
