OPINION: Businessman and GB News commentator Adam Brooks has hit out at the last six months of a Labour government

In the summer election, the main feeling on the street, was simply to get rid of the Tories, years of scandals, broken promises, mass immigration and the constant arrival of dinghies at Dover, simply made it an anti-Tory election, a mindset that had also been made trendy by various celebrity figures becoming activists for Labour or pushing the anti Tory line.

Now, up until Nigel Farage stepped up as the leader of Reform, I was politically homeless, I literally agreed with nothing Labour stood for, and I could see the dangers a mile off, both economically and socially with their proposed direction of travel.

I also could never give my vote to the Tories again, after their authoritarian rule during Covid, which has subsequently ended up with me losing a business. The simple truth was - the Conservative Party had simply stopped being conservative.

So, with a historically low turn out, Keir Starmer and his party romped to victory with a huge majority, despite just two in every 10 eligible voters casting a ballet for Labour and with half of Labour MPs having majorities of less than 20 percent.

1) Riots

Weeks after the election, the sickening Southport child murders happened, an event that contributed to riots on the streets of Britain. It was the way Keir Starmer and many of his prominent ministers handled this crisis, as to why so many turned their back on Labour so quickly after the election, many, including myself, believe that he acted like a dictator and was completely tone deaf to how so many felt in this country.

Now Keir Starmer was in power, we had constant reminders of just how migrants were viewing Britain as being even softer on immigration. This new Government had taken away the only deterent that we had, and all the way up until the end of the year, we saw record numbers cross the channel, forcing Labour to go back on their scrapping of the migrant hotels.

It was clear that the public were sold a pup with his summer 'smash the gangs' line, people were and are angry.

2) Winter Fuel Allowance

Next up, we had the targeting of pensioners by removing their winter fuel allowance just before the cold snap, even though their own 2017 analysis showed that it could cost up to 4000 lives, all this for a reported 1.4 billion pound saving, this has cost them so much support, they look heartless, they look reckless and they wont be forgiven by millions of people.

It truly was suicidal policy-making by Rachel Reeves.

Then the Budget was about to anger many more.

3) Farmer's Inheritance Tax

Farmers getting hit with Inheritance bills once they die, something they've been protected from for decades as it allowed for the continuation of family farming - an industry that puts food in our supermarkets and food on our family dinner tables.

This policy was driven by envy and spitefulness, just to raise an estimated £500million per year, that's literally a few pennies down the UK budget sofa and a move that has angered millions and highlighted the true incompetence of Rachel Reeves and her team.

Then the media told us that Sir Keir had committed to give foreign farmers hundreds of millions of pounds, so now, they simply look like they hate Britain.

How utterly disgraceful.

4) National Insurance hike on business

Then came the hit to Businesses, the Budget added so much to our yearly costs, with the National Insurance contributions hike hitting so many hard, including my pub.

If the budget has added £30k a year to my overheads, what has it done for other businesses?.. shifts lost, jobs lost, price rises and businesses failing have all been predicted, yet Labour are not budging, it's like they want that to happen.

This will have cost them a lot of future votes, due to so many livelihoods at stake.

5) WASPI women betrayal

So, we have reached December and many are trying not to think about politics, see their families, enjoy the festive period and get ready for a challenging New Year ahead, then the Labour party betray the WASPI women, all this after being on record supporting them and using their cause for TV appearances and column inches, yet again, so many future votes lost.

It exposed their lies and made many people realise Labour were no different to the Tories.

6) Grooming Gangs Inquiry refusal

2025 arrives and Labour really wouldn't have been expecting a long standing scandal to hit their ratings further...but days into 2025, GB News came out with new information on the historic grooming gang scandal.

The news was then picked up by Elon Musk and beamed to the world, Keir Starmer and his Government ridiculed, attacked and scorned online and in various newspapers. While Keir Starmer's role as DPP during the grooming gang scandal is back under the spotlight and many of the past victims and detectives blame him for failings.

Labour's top ministers have refused to back a new inquiry and the public is furious.

The Prime Minister was already in freefall on his own personal ratings, but Labour continue to be hit hard in the polls, a Yougov poll pre the grooming gang social media storm had just 16% approving of the Government and a whopping 63% dissapproving, now add in Elon Musk's attention and Sir Keir labelling grooming gang critics as FAR RIGHT, this could show a record move in the polls and could lead to Sir Keir losing his position at the top of the Party.... all eyes on the polls, I'm hearing rumours of moves being prepared.
