Starmer and Lammy have no right to ban Israel arms sales to appease his voters - Kelvin MacKenzie

David Lammy has halted arms sales to Israel from Britain
There is one big fact that makes Starmer’s decision to bow to pressure from voters and ban arms sales to Israel inexplicable; Fourteen of the victims who died in the October7 massacre were British. Yes, British by birth and by passport.
So that battle going in the Middle East is not just a faraway place of which we know not, but a bleeding wound that needs to be revenged with arms that could do real damage to those that kill our citizens.
That was the correct view of the last Tory government. But along comes Starmer and, as he analysed the July 4 General Election, he sees his traditional Islamic base (around 80% of Muslims always vote Labour) had been weakened by Britain’s unequivocal support for Israel.
Ignoring private pleas from Washington and Tel Aviv, and more importantly the fact that 14 of our citizens perished on that dreadful night, he decided to reduce our sale of weapons to our most important ally in the region and the only to share our liberal and democratic values.
You do believe in democracy Starmer don’t you?
The role of Foreign Secretary David Lammy also needs to be scrutinised.
He announced the decision in Parliament, but his judgment in the past has been found wanting. He nominated Corbyn for the leadership, was an opponent of the nuclear deterrent and compared Tory Brexiteer MPs with Nazis. This will also be another clanger on that list.
A bizarre stat to emerge in this craven cowardice is that Israel is the third largest supplier of arms to Britain, including weaponry that has been used to defend the lives of our troops serving overseas. So, Israel will defend us but we aren’t so sure we will defend them.
How did it come to that?
The only country to prosper from this decision will be Islamic Iran, which along, with Hamas, wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. They will feel emboldened.
Sponsored by Tehran, Israel faces Hezbollah raining down its missiles from the North, from the South comes aerial violence from the Houthis and from the East, Iran launched an unprecedented 300 rockets at the Jewish state.
It is remarkable that Israel can take this kind of battering and yet get up every day and create a wealthy nation state where you are allowed to have a view, wear what you like and sleep with whom you like.
All of the above would either have led to lengthy jail sentences of even death at the hands of the state executioner. And yet Starmer couldn’t stand alongside them 100%.
Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of the decision is that it’s the way that Hamas uses its own people as shields that led to Labour seeking an embargo.
Hamas hide in schools, mosques, and blocks of flats meaning that if Israel goes in after them, there is a chance the innocents will be injured. Instead of this cowardly and cruel approach to war being stopped, Labour has decided that it’s easier to stop the arms for a nation which literally fights for survival every day. How bizarre.
One day Israel will find peace. That will be due to its intellect, courage and belief. None of which is on show on Labour’s front bench.
