GB News reporter Jack Carson reflects on a busy year working for Britain's news channel
It’s been a tumultuous year for news.
As 2024 comes to an end, GB News is now reflecting on some of the highlights. Here GB News’ brilliant reporter Jack Carson reflects on the last 12 months.
It's only two years since I graduated from university, but I’m now proud to have established myself as GB News’ West Midlands reporter where I've embedded myself at the heart of the stories that matter the most to the region.
I’ve worked hard to build up trust in communities across my patch, and it is a privilege to bring those stories to a national audience each and every day.

GB NewsHighlights have included a report last November which came after I was contacted by a local councillor about a young Hindu family being repeatedly attacked by local youths.
Working with the family, I was able to obtain doorbell footage which proved the attacks were, in fact, racially motivated.
The family felt let down by the response of the West Midlands police and I was happy to represent those views to the force and hold them to account.
One of the biggest stories in my region this year has been the bankruptcy of Birmingham City Council.
I’ve followed this story since it first broke (no pun intended), rooting myself in the city to tell it from every angle.
A personal highlight of mine in 2024 was reporting with veterans who were witnesses to Britain’s nuclear bomb tests in the 1950s and 1960s.
Working with LABRATS International, who have represented millions across the world exposed to fallout from the testing programs, I’ve filmed with multiple ex-servicemen to educate the GB News audience on the impact of their service.

This included an exclusive piece which I self-shot in Weston-super-Mare at their annual reunion.
The revelations of the veteran’s service horrified GB News presenters Andrew Pierce and Bev Turner so much, they started a fundraiser for next year's event which raised more than £50,000.
Representing the issues that matter to his region and the country are at the forefront of my drive to be the best journalist I can be.
And that will continue into 2025.
