I’m working on the gloomy (and not unique) assessment that come July 5 the toolmaker’s son will be Prime Minister. So, what will he do and how successful will he be? My bet is that he will be a disaster and in very short order will be the most hated Prime Minister in history.

There will be three important areas he will have to get right. Immigration. Taxes. And the unions.

What I will enjoy is that finally the lies he told on the runup to the election will catch up with him. But my pleasure will be short lived as the country slowly drifts into being an economic basket case with a majority of the country not paying taxes and those that do resenting having to subsidise the lives of the dim and idle.

The biggest of the issues needing solving is the migration crisis. The Times forecasts another 30,000 will cross the Channel by year end -13,000 have already arrived since January. What is the big plan? We can already safely say it doesn’t exist.

Labour says it will create a new Border Force. What good will that do? The smugglers have already proved they can outsmart the current Border Force. When that doesn’t work what else have they up their sleeve?

Well, they talk in an airy-fairy way about being pally with the EU, presumably hoping Brussels will do something to stop the flood of migrants. Since EU countries can’t stop the migrants themselves, we can forget that one.

There is no chance of Labour adopting Farage’s rather good plan to use the Royal Marines to push back the migrants to France. So, what are we left with? Nothing. The voters, who were daft enough to believe Labour had any idea in this area, will be furious but impotent.

It will take time before it becomes clear there will be more migrants coming here than under the Tories but what won’t take time is the party’s reverse ferret on taxes.

Throughout the campaign Reeves and Co have used the weasel words ‘’no plans’’ to raise taxes from their present 70-year high.

You can be absolutely certain- in fact I urge to you keep this prediction- that when they get to power, and literally within ten days, they say they have looked at the nation’s finances and we are in much worse shape than they had feared.

In order to save the NHS (why?) the wealthiest are going to have to pay even more tax so that the skint can get down the betting shop more often.

Although commentators like me will howl the reality is that 47% of the country don’t pay tax and that crowd are always in favour of somebody else paying for their lifestyle.

That election tax lie will hang round Starmer’s neck for the next five years. He won’t care.

Finally, how will Labour deal with the unions? The doctors, who would literally see your granny die to get a pay rise, can’t wait for the Socialists to take over negotiations. Shockingly they have had 11 strikes in the last couple of years. Personally, I wish they would all piss off to Australia and ruin their health service.

Putting aside my prejudice I can see Labour bending over straight away to the junior doctors. 35% rise? Why stop there. Let’s make it 50%. This will then be a signal for every state worker saying; I want a piece of that.

First in line will be railway workers. I am in favour of huge pay rises linked to changes in working practices. The trade union leaders don’t see it that way. They just want the money. If it was left to them a horse and cart would replace the 7.06 to Waterloo. They are absolute shockers.

So, that’s Mystic Mac’s gloomy view of a Labour administration. We are in a very painful and lengthy period of Socialism. We will lose many good people heading to parts of the world where money-making is not considered a disease.

See you at Terminal Five on the fifth.
