'I don't blame them for being slow' Zookeeper issues warning of animals getting 'too cold' as temperatures in UK plummet

Temperatures in the UK have plummeted to freezing and it is not just the people in the country who are trying to keep inside in the warm.

According to Zookeeper Hayley Jakeman at Whipsnade Zoo, the endangered Rhino species have been staying inside to avoid the cold weather.

She explained: "The Rhino house has to be kept at a constant 22c. So I don't blame them for being slightly slow at coming out today. It's important that we maintain the temperatures in all the animal buildings and make sure they've got plenty of bedding and are kept nice and warm."
