Many of the dangerous dogs are descended from an American dog known by the name 'Killer Kombo'

Half of XL Bully dogs in Britain have been found to be descended from a “killer” inbred pet from the US.

Research has identified a prolific dog from Los Angeles, known by breeders as “Killer Kimbo”, that the XL Bully dogs are descended from.

Kimbo, produced through generations of inbred fighting dogs, is known for its size and strength.

The dog is thought to have bred hundreds of XL bully puppies.

Researchers have said that inbreeding has created a small gene pool of aggressive fighting dogs.

Experts warn that dogs descended from Kimbo can be unstable and are also likely to inherit genetic diseases, the Telegraph has reported.

XL puppies sell for over £2,500 in the UK, however recent high-profile attacks involving the dogs have caused many to call for the dogs to be banned.

Last week, an 11-year-old girl was attacked by one of the ferocious dogs, with the footage circulating online.

The girl luckily survived the mauling, with her mother “thank[ing] god” for her daughter’s recovery.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman has called for a ban on breeding.

She posted on social media: “This is appalling. The American XL bully is a cleat and lethal danger to our communities, particularly to children.

“We can’t go on like this. I have commissioned urgent advice on banning them.”

Researchers from BullyWatch, an anti-XL dog group, said that dogs descended from “Killer Kombo” have accounted for at least 10 violent incidents worldwide.

Online adverts for the dogs reference their father, who goes by the nicknames “the Unstoppable Juggernaut”, “the Joker” and “Frank Sinatra”.

“Kimbo is known amongst a lot of the breeders as ‘Killer Kimbo’ because his offspring have been documented to carry a rage that is not normal in the XL American bully breed,” a breeder told the Telegraph.

“There have been kids that [were killed] by his dogs.”

A mother of a ten-year-old boy who was killed by an XL bully dog has criticised politicians for failing to take action quickly over the dangerous dogs.

Emma Whitfield’s son Jack Lis, 10, was mauled and killed in an attack at a friend’s house in Pentwyn near Caerphilly in Wales in November 2021.

She told GB News: “I feel like it's taken a long time for the Government to speak on this and I'm not sure why.

“I welcome the remarks from Suella Braverman, but I feel like it’s taken a long time for the Government to speak on this”, she said.

“It’s taken a video over the weekend to go viral when people have lost their lives over the past few years to these dogs, and they didn’t speak up before.

“Bringing in a ban would be a quick fix for now, but it goes a lot deeper as it’s irresponsible owners and backyard breeders who are causing these issues to begin with.”
