Donald Trump is reportedly preparing a peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine by Easter 2025, Kyiv-based media outlet Strana has claimed.

The proposed plan includes forcing a ceasefire by April 20, banning Ukraine from Nato membership and requiring the ex-Soviet state to accept Russian sovereignty over annexed territories.

The unconfirmed plans, which have been circulating in Ukrainian political and diplomatic circles, would also establish a European-led demilitarised zone that could include British troops.

The peace plan would require Ukrainian troops to withdraw from Russia's Kursk region, where Volodymyr Zelensky authorised a counter-offensive in August.

American troops would not be involved in the European contingent policing the demilitarised zone.

The proposal includes continued US military support for Ukraine and a pathway for EU membership by 2030.

Russian sanctions on energy would be gradually lifted over several years, with special duties on energy being used to fund Ukraine's reconstruction efforts, estimated at £392billion over the next decade.

The proposed peace process would begin with a phone call between Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin in early February.

A face-to-face meeting between the two leaders would follow in late February or early March.

The plan envisions an official ceasefire declaration by April 20, followed by a declaration on agreed parameters for ending the war by May 9.

The "leaked" document was revealed after Trump expressed his desire for a displacement of Palestinians in Gaza to make way for US "take over".

Kyiv would be required to halt the extension of martial law and cease troop mobilisation.

Zelensky's office has strongly rejected the legitimacy of these reported peace plans.

Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated on Telegram that the plans did not "exist in reality" and suggested such reports often disguised Russian propaganda.

"Russia's war is against Ukraine, against Europe, against the whole world," Zelensky added.

"I can't say clearly today what the structure of the negotiation process will be. Because we do not have a joint plan yet."

France has delivered its first batch of promised Mirage fighter jets to Ukraine, with Ukrainian pilots trained in France now ready to defend Ukrainian airspace.

Overnight, Russian forces launched 77 drones and two ballistic missiles at Ukraine, with 56 drones destroyed and 18 others jammed mid-flight.
