Nevada police have searched a house in connection with the ongoing investigation into the hip-hop star's death nearly three decades ago

Nevada police has confirmed it searched a house in connection with the unsolved 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur, who was shot dead in Las Vegas.

In a press release, the The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said it "can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation."

No additional information regarding who owned the house or what led police to conduct the search was given.

Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting on 13 September 1996 and died in a hospital six days later at the age of 25.

No arrests have ever been made in the case.

The home that was searched is less than 20 miles (32km) from the Las Vegas strip where Shakur was shot four times while sitting inside a black car waiting at a red light.

Shakur was accompanied by Marion "Surge" Knight, head of Death Row Records, when a white Cadillac is said to have pulled up next to their vehicle and opened fire.

Las Vegas Police Lt Jason Johansson informed the Las Vegas Review that detectives were working on the cold case once more.

The police department has previously cited a lack of cooperation from those close who were close to Shakur as a hindrance to its investigation.
