Three people have died after a gunman opened fire at a hair salon in a major Swedish town.
Police swooped onto the scene after members of the public reported that they heard loud bangs that sounded like gunfire close to Vaksala Square in the centre of Uppsala, a university city 44 miles north of Stockholm.
The shooter, who fled on a e-scooter, is still on the run, according to the reports.
In an updated statement, police said: "Three people are confirmed deceased following a shooting".

According to the police description, the man is said to be wearing sunglasses and dark clothing.
A police helicopter has joined in the search for the shooter, police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin told TV4.
The Swedish Transport Administration said that train traffic was stopped due to the police operation in the area, but has since resumed.

The identity of the victims and the shooter are still unclear.
Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer a "brutal act of violence" has taken place.
"Everything happened so fast. It just went bang, bang, bang," a witness told the Swedish channel.
Earlier this year, ten people were killed at a school in Sweden "with an automatic weapon" in a horrific attack in Orebro, southern Sweden.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the shooting at Risbergska school in Orebro, 200km (124 miles) west of the capital city Stockholm, as the "worst mass shooting in Swedish history".
