A missile has hit Russia's Black Sea navy's military headquarters in Crimea.

Videos online show smoke coming from the building.

“The headquarters of the fleet have been hit in an enemy missile attack,” Russian-appointed governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said in a post on Telegram.

A soldier in Sevastopol has been declared as missing in action as a result of the strike, Russia's crime defence ministry said.

They previously declared them as dead, but later retracted that statement.

Razvozhayev says a fragment fell near the Lunacharsky Theatre in Sevastopol, the largest city in Russian-occupied Crimea.

He says emergency services are on the scene and information about victims is being clarified.

The governor warned people from travelling to the city and advised them not to leave buildings.

“Attention everyone! Another attack is possible,” he wrote on Telegram.

“Firefighters are taking all measures to put out the fire as quickly as possible. The build-up of forces and resources continues,” it continued.

Razvozhayev has since said that there is no longer air strike danger but continued to discourage people from leaving their homes.

Different targets are believed to have been hit on the peninsula's western coast.

This includes an attack on the military base in the port city of Sevastopol - which destroyed a submarine and a warship.

“While repelling a missile attack, five missiles were shot down by air defence systems. As a result of the attack, the historical headquarters building of the Black Sea Fleet was damaged. According to available information, one soldier was killed,” the statement released on Telegram said.

Ukrainian officials, who have claimed responsibility for a series of other recent attacks on Crimea, have yet to say that they orchestrated the strike.

Shortly after the news of the strike, Russian air defences claimed that they downed a missile on Friday near the town of Bakhchysarai in Crimea
