Vladimir Putin has agreed to stop key Ukraine airstrikes on the country's major infrastructure after speaking with President Donald Trump this afternoon - although the Russian leader rejected calls for an immediate ceasefire deal.
Despite stopping short of an immediate peace deal, Putin ordered his military to halt strikes on specific targets for 30 days.
He also agreed to a prisoner swap deal after the hour-and-a-half discussion with the US President.
After the call, the Kremlin announced that the meeting included a "detailed and frank exchange of views" on the Ukraine war.

Moscow also "confirmed [Putin's] fundamental commitment to a peaceful resolution" which was "comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term".
The Kremlin had emphasised one of the President's key conditions to mediate the conflict via political and diplomatic methods would require military aid to be completely paused as well as the end of intelligence sharing with Kyiv.
Tomorrow, Moscow and Kyiv will exchange 175 prisoners of war and transfer 23 seriously injured Ukrainian soldiers from Russia.
Among Putin's demands, the Kremlin has demanded no further mobilisation or rearmament from Ukraine during the truce.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Sharing an update on the latest discussions, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the leaders "spoke about the need for peace and a ceasefire in the Ukraine war", adding that both sides hope for better relations between the US and Russia.
"The blood and treasure that both Ukraine and Russia have been spending in this war would be better spent on the needs of their people," a White House statement added.
"This conflict should never have started and should have been ended long ago with sincere and good faith peace efforts."
The White House later added that fresh peace talks will commence in the Middle East.

While the negotiations on his country are negotiated in his absence, Volodymyr Zelensky visited Finland today as he continues to make his tour around Europe to speak with allies.
Although he is yet to comment on the content of the call between the American and Russian President, Zelensky renewed calls for increased involvement of Europe in peace talks.
"Europe must be at the negotiating table, and everything related to Europe's security should be decided together with Europe," the Ukrainian leader said.
The Ukrainian's talks in Finland addressed defence, investment in Kyiv's weapons production and the degree of his country's integration across the continent.
