Ukraine said the strike was the 11th alleged sabotage attack this year on Russian trains linked to Putin’s war

Ukraine says it has struck a Russian-controlled oil base and a train carrying ammunition in a suspected sabotage attack.

The oil facility in occupied Donetsk exploded following intense shelling.

It has been claimed that the oil was intended for use by Russian troops.

There were four large oil tanks at the facility in the Budennovsky district.

A military Telegram channel report said: "It is difficult to assess the damage to the oil depot, but extensive fire indicates damage to the reservoir or underground storage."

In another incident, pro-Kyiv partisans launched an attack on a train used to carry fuel and ammunition from Crimea to Melitopol and Dniprorudne, both in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Ukrainian centre of national resistance said: "As a result of the controlled explosion, the railway and a locomotive with wagons were damaged.

"The explosion itself happened at 8am. The occupiers have surrounded the place of the explosion and are searching the surrounding area.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"Thanks to the heroes of the underground, the train finally completed its movement."

Ukraine said it was the 11th alleged sabotage attack this year on Russian trains linked to Putin’s war.

It comes after Russia launched 42 drones and six missiles at Ukraine on Thursday.

Ukraine's air defence systems reportedly destroyed 41 drones but debris damaged buildings, warehouses and injured 11 people in southern regions.

Ukraine's Air Force added that Russian MiG-31K fighter jets carrying Kinzhal hypersonic missiles struck targets just 10 minutes after their takeoff from Savasleyka airbase sparked a national alert on Thursday.

The Air Force said it shot down one Kinzhal missile over Kyiv region, while another two hit Starokostiantyniv district, location of an air base in Khmelnytskyi region.

Kyiv regional governor Ruslan Kravchenko said no casualties were reported, nor damage to critical and civilian infrastructure.
