Russia has launched its most intense aerial attack on Ukraine so far as Vladimir Putin seeks revenge for the destruction of one of his biggest warships.
A total of 46 drones bombarded the war-torn country in a wave of overnight attacks.
They were followed up by at least 55 cruise missiles, 14 ballistic missiles, five aeroballistic missiles and a number of anti-radar missiles.
Ukraine's air-defence systems shot down 27 of the 36 drones as well as 87 missiles.
Twelve people were killed in the onslaught with dozens more injured.
Ten people in Kyiv were trapped under rubble at a warehouse damaged by falling debris, the city's military administration said.
A maternity ward was damaged in the city of Dnipro, but no casualties were reported, the governor said.
"Today, millions of Ukrainians awoke to the loud sound of explosions.

"I wish those sounds of explosions in Ukraine could be heard all around the world," Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said, calling for Kyiv's allies to step up their support.
The attacks from Russia come just days after Putin was left "completely furious" at the destruction of one of Russia's major warships in Crimea.
The Kremlin is claimed to have been eager for revenge after Novocherkassk was rendered redundant.
The ship is often used to carry tanks, armoured vehicles and troops ashore.
Ukraine said the extensive damage caused by the explosion meant that it was unlikely the vessel was in any fit state to be deployed again.
Ukrainian partisan group Atesh said on Telegram following the attack: "Putin is completely furious over the destruction of the Novocherkassk large landing ship.
"An order was issued to punish the Crimean air defence forces.
"It is expected that many commanders will be removed and sent to the front to participate in assault groups.”
