The Kremlin has lashed out at Joe Biden by calling him a “Hollywood cowboy” after the US President dubbed Putin a “crazy SOB”.
Biden made the jab during a climate change awareness event in San Francisco.
Speaking to donors, the US President used the acronym for "son of a b***h", saying: “We have a crazy SOB like that guy Putin and others, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate.”
In response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “Has Mr Putin ever used one crude word to address you? This has never happened. Therefore, I think that such vocabulary debases America itself.”
He also slammed Biden for trying to appear as a “Hollywood cowboy” and said the President’s remarks were a “huge shame for the country [the US] itself”.

The Russian-state news agency Tass quoted Peskov as saying: “Biden's words about Putin cannot hurt the Russian president, but they are a disgrace to the United States itself.”
Peskov added it was "unlikely to infringe on our president, President Putin. But it debases those who use such vocabulary".
The remarks come less than a week after Biden, amongst many other Western leaders, accused Putin of murdering political rival Alexei Navalny.
“We don't know exactly what happened, but there is no doubt that the death of Nalvany was a consequence of something that Putin and his thugs did,” Biden said at the White House.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
The Kremlin's spokesperson said the comments were not likely to have an effect upon Putin or Russia
ReutersIt has been reported he died after a walk at the "Polar Wolf" Arctic penal colony where he was serving a three-decade sentence.
Biden said: “Like millions of people around the world I’m literally both not surprised and outraged by the news. He bravely stood up to the corruption the violence and all of the bad things the Putin government was doing.
“In response, Putin had him poisoned. He had him arrested. He had him prosecuted for fabricated crimes. He sentenced him to prison. He was held in isolation. Even all that didn’t stop him from calling out Putin’s lies. Even in prison, he was a powerful voice of the truth.”
