Nordic citizens urged to 'prepare for war' with alarming survival guides as panic escalates near Putin's borders

Citizens in Nordic countries have been provided with disturbing survival instructions as the nations prepare for conflict.
It comes after US President Joe Biden authorised Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles inside Russia - a move that will substantially escalate the war.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky issued a warning to Russia stating: “Missiles will speak for themselves.”

The pamphlets contain information about how to prepare for nuclear attacks, natural disasters, terrorism and even cyber attacks.
They also came with a chilling message, reminding citizens to stand united: “To resist these threats, we must stand united. If Sweden is attacked, everyone must do their part to defend Sweden’s independence - and our democracy.”
Norwegians also received a brochure urging people to know how to manage for a week in the event of extreme weather or war.

Tore Kamfjord of the Norwegian Directorate for Civil protection said 2.2 million paper copies were sent out, one for each Norwegian household.
They list emergency food items like pasta and beans, and iodine tablets have been added to the list of medicines in the case of a nuclear attack.
Denmark also took precautions, through a campaign this past summer putting out instructions detailing the food, water and medicine necessary to get through three days of disaster.
Finland opted to publish information online for residents to prepare for “incidents and crises.” The document stressed that Finnish authorities are “well prepared for self defence.”

Sweden and Finland recently joined NATO, giving up their position of neutrality and taking a clear stance against Putin’s actions in Ukraine.
Sweden has increased its defence due to the war, whereas Finland has always maintained a strong protection due to its border and history with Russia.
The Baltic countries have also been getting ready in the case of a Russian invasion.
Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia signed an agreement in January to create a joint defence line against attacks from Russia.
