Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad met to discuss the destruction of Israel

The leaders of a number of terrorist groups have met to discuss a “resistance axis” against Israel, amid growing fears of a widening conflict in the region.

The head of Lebanon's Hezbollah convened a meeting of the leaders of the Palestinian factions Hamas and Islamic Jihad, according to a report by Hezbollah controlled al-Manar TV.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad is the second largest terror group in Gaza, behind Hamas.

The channel reported they had assessed what their alliance must do to "achieve a real victory for the resistance" in Gaza.

The meeting grouped Hezbollah's Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, with Hamas deputy chief Saleh al-Arouri, and Islamic Jihad chief Ziad al-Nakhala, al-Manar reported.

"The meeting.. assessed the positions taken internationally and what the Axis of Resistance must do".

Al-Manar referred to an alliance of Iran, Palestinian groups, Syria and Lebanon's Hezbollah, as well as other factions.

The meeting came as Israel said it had “taken out” 5 Hezbollah terror cells in southern Lebanon in the past 24 hours, responsible for launching, or attempting to launch attacks on northern Israel.

Syrian authorities also confirmed that 8 Syrian soldiers had been killed and 7 others injured in Israeli air strikes on military positions in south west Syria.

The Israeli military confirmed the air strikes and said they were in response to rockets fires into Israel from those positions on Tuesday.

The IDF said those rockets fell on open ground and no one was injured.

Meanwhile, the IDF said it had killed another top Hamas commander overnight.

It said Taysir Mubasher, commander of Hamas’s north Khan Yunis battalion, was targeted based on military and security intelligence.

The Israeli military said that Mubasher was “responsible for numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.”
