The Swedish climate change activist has been described as 'moving very consciously in close proximity to antisemitism'

Greta Thunberg has sparked a wave of outrage after she brazenly shouted “f**k Israel and f**k Germany” at a pro-Palestine protest.

The climate change activist, 21, made the exclamations during a talk on “solidarity with Palestine and the climate movement” at a protest in Mannheim, Germany on Friday.

Footage from the protest has since gone viral online, leading to Thunberg facing fury.

A centre-right member at the local parliament Manuel Hagel claimed that her words were “moving very consciously in close proximity to antisemitism".

“Mannheim does not need a platform for such dehumanising positions and our country does not need the presence of people like Greta Thunberg,” he told the Jerusalem Post.

American campaigners StopAntisemitism added: “Climate activist turned Hamas shill Greta Thunberg has made her stance crystal clear.

“Someone should remind Greta that Israel is a global leader in solving the climate challenge.”

Since her outburst, Thunberg has been put into the running for the group’s “antisemite of the year” award - in which anyone can vote.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Over 700 participants attended the demonstration alongside Thunberg in the German city last week.

Thunberg has shown consistent support for Palestine since the October 7 attacks, calling for a “ceasefire now” while donning a Palestinian black and white scarf in Amsterdam last November.

In response, Luisa Neubauer - the head of the German branch of the Fridays for Future climate movement - said: “It is obvious that for many global organisations, global realities diverge when it comes to Israel and Palestine. But that does not justify disinformation.”

The German branch of the organisation has now moved away from associating itself with Thunberg altogether.

The Swedish activist was also arrested on September 4 while taking part in a protest urging Copenhagen University to sever all ties with Israel.

In the aftermath after the horrific October 7 attacks in 2023, Thunberg shared a photo of herself online, holding up a sign which read: “Stand with Gaza”.

She had also posted a picture of herself holding a toy octopus - an image which led to accusations of referring to Nazi propaganda.

In response to backlash, Thunberg - who is autistic - insisted that she was “completely unaware” of this historical connection, saying: “The toy in the picture is a tool often used by autistic people as a way to communicate feelings.”
