It comes after three people were targeted in an attack last night

Belgium police have shot dead a man in a cafe believed to have been the gunman behind a deadly terror attack last night.

Two Swedish citizens were killed and a third injured last night in an attack which was claimed to have been carried out in the name of Isis.

In a video posted online, a 45-year-old Tunisian claimed that he was a fighter for Allah.

Belgian VRT TV said the attacker was found and shot in a cafe in the Belgian capital, but prosecutors said they were awaiting confirmation that it was the suspect.

He was arrested at the scene and transferred to hospital, where he later died.

Prosecutors are taking fingerprints in order to be able to confirm they have the right man.

Brussels Mayor Philippe Close said after the shooting: "It seems indeed the suspect has been neutralised."

An automatic weapon, which appeared to match with the one used in last night's attack was found with the assailant.
