Out of frustration and hunger, the woman decided it was time to teach the food thief a lesson they wouldn't forget

A woman has been praised for her creative revenge plans after a colleague repeatedly stole her lunch from the office fridge.

The frustrated worker explained how her meals kept vanishing "mysteriously" from the work kitchen, leaving her with nothing to eat at lunchtime.

She initially tried several tactics to protect her food, including labelling it clearly and hiding it at the back of the fridge.

When these methods failed, she even attempted to deter the thief by bringing in extremely spicy meals.

However, after none of these approaches worked, she decided to take more drastic action by deliberately preparing unpalatable food combinations to catch out the culprit.

Her first revenge tactic involved emptying a can of dog food into a container and labelling it as chili leftovers.

The next day, she prepared mashed cauliflower and dyed it a bright green colour before placing it in the office fridge. For her final act, which she described as her "masterpiece", she created a peculiar mixture of jelly and tuna.

Each container was carefully labelled as if it contained normal lunch items, making them appear tempting to the unsuspecting thief.

"I started bringing in containers filled with random, disgusting stuff to mess with them," she explained in her social media post.

Her plan proved successful, with the lunch thefts coming to a complete halt within a week.

Though no one directly admitted to being the culprit, she overheard a colleague complaining about feeling "sick all day" after lunch.

"I couldn't help but smile," she wrote, questioning whether her actions were too petty or if the thief deserved it.

One Reddit user warned against reporting such incidents to management, stating: "The company won't do anything and you will be the bad guy complainer. Plus you could get into trouble for [knowingly] trying to make someone sick."

The commenter added that while the thief couldn't complain without admitting to stealing, the woman maintained "plausible deniability" as she hadn't disclosed her knowledge of the thefts. Other Reddit users expressed disgust at the concept of stealing colleagues' homemade lunches.

"What kind of monsters do this though? I'd be so grossed out to eat someone's personal food they brought from home," one user commented, raising concerns about hygiene and food preparation standards.

Another commenter highlighted the potential dangers of taking others' food, noting: "Some people have food allergies, and can't eat take-away. Or they might be diabetic, and could be in serious trouble (hypoglycemia). They might be following religious guidelines."
