A man has been arrested after a fatal BMW car crash which resulted in the death of a 7-year-old boy.
Jack Rooke, the young child, was taken to hospital after the crash in Huddersfield on Wednesday.
He died of his injuries in hospital, West Yorkshire Police have said.
The driver of the black BMW was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The man, in his 30s, remains in custody.
The crash took place on Longfield Avenue, Huddersfield at about 6pm.
Jack was reportedly playing outside just yards from his house when the collision occurred.
A statement by West Yorkshire Police confirmed: "Police investigating Wednesday’s fatal road traffic collision on Longfield Avenue can now name the victim of the incident as seven-year-old Jack Rooke from Golcar.
"Officers continue to support Jack’s parents and also continue to request their privacy is respected at what is clearly a dreadful time.
"Enquiries into the collision remain ongoing and the Major Collision and Enquiry Team continue to appeal for witnesses."
Flowers, toys, and notes have been laid at the crash site by grieving relatives and friends.
One hand-written note read: "Gone from our sight but never our hearts. Just a young boy playing with friends - far too young to leave your family and friends.

Witnesses to the crash said that Jack became stuck underneath the vehicle whilst emergency services responded to the scene.
A neighbour said: "The first thing I knew was when the fire engine turned up. It is absolutely shocking he was car mad.
"I often saw him playing in the street. I could not believe when I saw him being given CPR by the side of the road. He was a lovely little boy," the Daily Mail reports.
Police are appealing for further witnesses to come forward.
