A public body has been blasted for forking out £10,000 in a bid to “decolonise” Welsh cakes.
The Arts Council of Wales handed over £9,952 to carry out research on a project called “Decolonising the Welsh Cake”.
So far, the commissioned researcher remains yet to identify the links between the baked goods and the British empire.

In response to the revelation, shadow secretary of state for Wales Mims Davies told The Sun: "This is another total waste of money.
"We should all be proudly celebrating and supporting Welsh heritage, not having the taxpayer fund, along with lottery players, an organisation that is shelling out thousands of pounds to fund these bonkers leftie ideological attempts to tear it down."
She said was a "direct result" of the Welsh Labour Government - which has previously come under fire for its anti-racism action plan.
Campaign Doge Wales first pointed to the peculiar choice of government spending yesterday.
Deeming the spending "laughable", the account wrote: "It sounds like a bad joke - but it’s real.

"The Arts Council of Wales awarded a £10,000 grant for a project titled "Decolonising the Welsh Cake."
"This wasn’t satire. This wasn’t a mistake. It was one of many grants, worth £3.7million in total, handed out to help meet the goals of the Welsh Government’s Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan.
The funding was originally sourced from a National Lottery pot for people and groups who have previously "experienced barriers".
Comparing the Welsh Government to an octopus, it said the Senedd "sits at the centre, controlling the arms of public funding, shaping the direction of national discourse, and funding third-sector organisations to embed its worldview".

A spokesman for Arts Council of Wales said: "We firmly believe it is crucial to support these individuals and organisations as part of our commitment to increase the diversity of work being created, funded and celebrated in Wales."
